To be able to take the comforts of home on the road is something we all desire, and RVs give you the chance to do just that. However, entering the buying process can be intimidating for a number of reasons, but none are more impactful than a high sticker price. That's where used RVs come into play!
 

Saving Money with Used Campers

The biggest reason to buy used is how much you can save! As soon as a new trailer leaves the lot, it begins to lose value through depreciation. Even if it never was used by the original owner and sat collecting dust in a lot for a few months, it would only be sold for a lower than the original price. As a buyer, this is a great way to snatch up high-quality vehicles for significantly cheaper prices. Additionally, sometimes used RV buyers can end up with a purchase that is virtually new in condition and without a magnifying glass shows no signs of having been used. 

Another reason used campers are much cheaper is technology and the consumer mindset of "newer is better." When you buy a new model, it will often come with the newest evolution of devices and features ranging from the GPS to the engines. When it comes to yearly changes, these newer features and technologies may not be significantly improved relative to the previous year. This means that the change in cost for the used features may outweigh the benefits of the newer ones. Since new features are one of the biggest factors in driving up the price, you can avoid that by buying used instead!
 

Buying From a Dealer

If you decide that you want to take the next step towards buying a used RV, you'll be faced with two options. You can go with an individual seller, such as a seller on craigslist, or you can decide to go with a dealership which can specialize in used RVs and subsequently offer more perks. 

First, used campers must go through an intense inspection process before a dealership can assign a price to them. This enables dealerships to catch issues that may go unnoticed by an individual seller. Also, dealers generally run a service department which can help with many of those fixes on the spot, which can end up saving you money in the future. 

Second, dealers have a brand and reputation to maintain. This means that they will go to extra lengths to make sure you go home happy with your used RV in order to protect the future of the business. An individual seller, however, faces little to no consequences if they rip you off. You can't give them bad reviews on Yelp, Facebook, or anywhere online that will drastically affect their ability to conduct business in the future. Dealers are incentivized to conduct mutually beneficial deals and establish a positive relationship with customers.
