History

The history of Forest River goes back to 1996. Peter Liegl had been the CEO of an RV company for many years when he decided to purchase assets from it. Using this as a stepping stone, he launched Forest River based on his knowledge and experience in the field.

The company continued to see growth over the next couple of decades. Their original line of products had become their iconic and best-selling items, which had come to dominate the market. One of their other strengths is in their business dealings. Forest River has acquired a number of companies over the years which has greatly helped with their exponential growth. 

Under their belt, Forest River now has US Cargo (in 2000), Starcraft Bus (in 2001), Glaval Bus (in 2001) and Dynamax Corporation (in 2011). They also became part of one of the largest holding companies in the world, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., in 2005. Despite all the changes, Forest River has maintained its role as a leading RV manufacturer.
