Camping in your RV is lots of fun, but it’s not so much fun if you’re chronically sleep-deprived. Sleeping in a new place with the potential for lights and noise outside can make it challenging to fall and stay asleep. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to send yourself into dreamland easily each night. Try these tips and you’ll be able to wake up refreshed and ready for your next adventure!

Invest in Blackout Curtains

The lights from a campground or from flashlights can creep into your windows at night and make it harder to fall asleep. Replace your RV’s curtains with blackout curtains that will make your bedroom a dark oasis. Heavier curtains can also help to dampen outdoor sounds a little bit.

Upgrade Mattress & Bedding

The standard mattress on your RV might not be the most comfortable one you’ve ever slept on, especially if it pales in comparison to the one you have at home. Many RV manufacturers do make aftermarket mattresses that can be ordered to fit your make and model, though, so there is a potential for upgrading the mattress to one that is softer or has memory foam.

While you’re at it, don’t skimp on your sheets, pillows, or blankets if you want a good night’s sleep. Buying higher quality pillows, high thread-count sheets in a natural fabric, and a lightweight down comforter will turn your bed into a virtual cloud of comfort.

Try Sleep Accessories

If all else fails, you can wear an eyemask and earplugs to block out light and sound. You can also try using a white-noise machine in your bedroom. Spritzing some lavender essential oil on your mattress or pillows can also help you sleep better by calming you down.
